Present tense
The present tense is formed using the base form of the infinitive, without the ‘to’, except for the third person, where different rules apply
Rule #1: In general, add an ‘s’ in the third person
Rule #2: If the verb ends in a vowel and ‘y’, add an ‘s’ in the third person
Rule #3: If the verb ends in a consonant and ‘y’, remove the ‘y’ and add ‘ies’
Rule #4: If the verb ends in -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X, or –Z, add ‘es’
